Daye Limited is setting a new standard in period care and gynae health. This new standard comes in the form of a newly launched product – a tampon that offers screening for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The “STI Diagnostic Tampon” uses a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to test for five STIs – chlamydia, gonorrhoea, trichomonas, mycoplasma and ureaplasma.

The company has developed the tampon to replace the traditional methods used by health professionals – like swabs and speculums. Any interested person can order the diagnostic tampon from the company’s website, collect and send their sample to one of Daye’s partner labs, and receive their results online.

This approach is meant to provide women, and people with vaginas, control of their own sexual health in a noninvasive way. The choice of a tampon effectively replaces swabs as the tampon covers a greater surface area and collects more vaginal fluids.

This advancement has come after extensive R&D to validate the quality of samples collected and the ability to test from this sample. The company regularly works to develop new solutions that fit within the comfortable daily lives of their clients. Last year, Daye launched a vaginal microbiome screening service.
