CatSci, Ltd, a Welsh innovation partner, has announced the opening of their new UK laboratory in Dagenham. This lab will focus on combining analytical and synthetic chemistry expertise with the latest high-end equipment in an effort to solve unmet needs in the pharmaceutical industry.

CatSci is committed to developing economically and environmentally sustainable manufacturing processes for small molecule therapeutics. This new laboratory will be fully equipped with state-of-the-art analytical equipment, thanks to a collaboration with Shimadzu. This strategic opening is a key early milestone in CatSci’s £3 million investment plan. This plan will better equip the company to meet the demand for solving multi-disciplinary analytical problems. As the industry progresses and expands to include new modalities like cannabinoids, this investment will be crucial to creating innovative solutions.

“The opening of this new facility deepens the level of support we can offer,” added Nigel Richardson, director of Analytical Technology & New Modalities, CatSci, in the press release. “We will also be upgrading the site with capacity for GMP [good manufacturing practice] analytical development and testing, which will further increase our ability to provide innovative, tailored solutions from early development pre-clinical data packages to late development Phase III impurity fate studies.”
