GreenLab, Inc. has developed a plant-powered breakthrough to fight pollution. U.S. Patent Application No. 20250161732, titled ‘Compositions and methods for degradation of pollutants by plant-produced manganese peroxidase’, outlines a system that uses corn to produce a powerful cleanup enzyme.

Turning Crops into Cleanup Tools

This patent introduces a method to grow corn plants that naturally make manganese peroxidase (MnP), an enzyme that breaks down tough pollutants. Instead of relying on factories or chemicals, the process turns corn seeds into mini biofactories. These seeds are then processed and combined with peroxide to destroy harmful compounds like phenols, anilines, hydrocarbons, and more.

Cleaner Process, Greener Future

Because the enzyme comes from plants, the system is both sustainable and scalable. It replaces chemical-heavy solutions with a cleaner, agriculture-based approach. In addition, it reduces waste by repurposing crops for environmental work. This could lower cleanup costs while improving safety for ecosystems and communities.

Real Impact for Industry and Environment

GreenLab’s invention offers industries a smart way to treat polluted sites and wastewater. With simple tools and natural ingredients, companies can reduce their environmental footprint. Ultimately, this innovation brings cleaner air, water, and land within reach.
